draw yourself back to life: a season of new drawing workshops

Welcome, Drawing Enthusiast!

After taking a few years to start up a new studio space and consolidate my art offerings I am happy to announce that I will be taking up my place as Facilitator again.

A New Season - Draw Yourself Back To Life

I have designed a handful of drawing intensive workshops for various skill levels and differing interests in drawing as a medium.

Do you:
- want to explore the potential of drawing as a skill for developing yourself?
- seek something beyond the 'traditional' drawing techniques and other well-honed territories of your drawing practice?
- need recalibration, 'resetting'? Perhaps you're creatively stuck, or have lost contact with your creative spark?
- seek the motivation to begin something new, whether it is art making, the will to push through into a new sphere of life, or both?
- feel ready to push your drawing medium into a new realm and explore your own mark and art making process?

The 'new season' of workshops I will be hosting is dubbed 'Draw Yourself Back To Life' - a series of drawing-focused two-, three- and four day workshops where Drawing is the medium we employ to:
- warm back up into a creative space
- remember how to Look, touch back in with the seeing eye
- reconnect with the joy of sketching
- reinvigorate our curiosity about the world we live in, and get in contact with our creative spirit
- collect ideas and explore them
- set up the conditions and get hungry for Practice
- find our own voice and visual language
- find our own discipline and daily drawing ritual
- get into the Space, watch what comes, and remember the joy of looking
- consciously shift our perspective into new places, and watch how this spills out into our lives

What my drawing workshops entail

The workshops will focus on specific themes that invite participants to develop their own process, and all will employ Drawing as The Medicine, Drawing as The Medium through which we investigate whatever we may find we are called upon to explore.

They will include
- magical elements of Botanical sketchbooking
- outings into the natural environment for 'au plein air' sketching
- looking at specific scenes or objects to understand guiding principles and the fundamental mechanics of Drawing
- forays into abstraction and the alchemy of mark-making
- investigations into what 'drawing' can be, with mixed media experimentation

The workshops will offer a lot of quiet and still, space, opportunities to walk outside and use the natural environment as the base for reconnecting to our creative spirit. They will also gather many like-minds, be loads of fun and full of invigorating conversation and discussion.

In all of these workshops I aim to encourage participants to go home and draw as much as possible, and find and make the sketchbook a safe place.

These workshops are not materials-heavy, and this is the key. All you ever need is a pen or pencil and a piece of paper - always.

I will make a full set of workshop programs available soon on my new website.
